Hikaru is a hypocritical scumbag. He was disgusted when females disregarded his feelings, but he's completely fine with disregarding Haruki's feelings. When Haruki was showing signs of being suicidal, Hikaru was concerned because he didn't want to lose him, not because he cares about his well-being.

You sympathize with this rapist because of the halo effect. You see a tearful, beautiful young man, and associate his appearance with his character.

I know I'm making excuses. But I think I can have an opinion also. I'm trying to actually see on Hikaru's perspective way of thinking.
Because all of you kept on focusing Haruki's situation, with his tearful and broken face.
It's not wrong. Rapist was also once a human.
People didn't born alongside with their 'rapist' behavior from the start.
Nobody is perfect anyway.

I see Hikaru as a broken doll now anyway. Like, his mind cant even function well and cant tell what he's doing is right or wrong.

Why do you think he doesn't know right from wrong? Hikaru does know that Haruki doesn't like it, he's told him time and time again. If he didn't know it was wrong he wouldn't have blackmailed Haruki from the start. He may no longer feel the guilt of his actions but he knows what he's doing is wrong.
