It just make sense if MC is insisting coz first, he is not really Hyeol's parent and for now he only sees them as characters of his sister's novel and second he feels a certain responsibility to keep things in order as originally was in her sister's novel.
I feel the same way too. It puts me off. It's one thing force romance on another person but more over they are literally children!
I find it uncomfortable that the MC keeps pairing up the kids together when there’s no real chemistry between them yet. The kids are preoccupied with other things, so it feels forced. Additionally, when the MC insists that they need to get married, it feels like being pushed into a marriage arrangement, which makes me super uncomfortable. Like there being sold off. If my mom told me i needed to marry this guy i feel like im being sold off but that’s just my take on it.
