I think whatever possessed Kafka won't let him die! He's either gonna emerge as a real Kaiju or his humanity is gonna save him (like the core not being his true weakness or something). Either way Mina can't die, so far this Manga has been really careful and purposeful with the deaths. Mina gotta survive for the plot.
