For me, I think it's how in a lot of frames, EVERYONE is towering over her and it's makes her seem like she is a child and they keep asking her age like she is not 16 while the way she is drawn is different to everyone else. Everyone else has more thinner eyes while her's are big and it's constant. There has not been another character that looks like her nor anyone else her age to compare to. She is often just really shorter than everyone else and it's super weird how they ask her age all the time and questioning it bc she looks not her age.
And also the other characters look just older and are older AND taller. The background characters are towering over her too so constantly it's the fact that she is shorter than everyone while being questioned if she is REALLY 16 bc she looks way younger. Reminding us of her age is a bit weird although somewhat understandable? I just think it's frames her to look way younger than she actually is but also overly young compared to everyone else. Which is not good since the age is 16..... Looking younger than 16 while getting married and being 16 is a bit concerning and people don't like how her age is often framed as a focus but people still question if she is even her own age bc she is malnourished, short and skinny. A 16 year old getting married is wild tho in any case so people probably feel weirded out. A time skip and her still being a child is weird. If there was a time skip, why can't there be two characters who are over 20 at least and getting together? Why it gotta be under 20...... He is at least 17-20 and she is stated as 16.
Weird, very weird age pairing and there's also this weird like overpowerness? Like everyone else towers over her literally and metaphorically with the authority they have. She is afraid which is normal I suppose but that WITH the shortness WITH the constant age questioning WITH the framing of her body being much younger than 16 makes it out as SUPER weird. AND she is getting married while this is supposed to be a romance story?
She is drawn big eyed with a short body and have background characters looking literally down on her. It sometimes feels like she is a different style almost with the difference of how she and the other characters are drawn. The other characters mostly have more thin eyes and she is the only one that is big. Not having another actual 16 year old character to compare her with just kinda isolates her more so now she seems even younger. Multiple elements coming together make her look super young and him look older.
Being 16 and looking younger but getting married. Think about that...
