The creator can make as many homophobic characters as they want, they have free will & I don’t really care as long as the story is good. But that doesn’t mean we can’t discuss how we dislike homophobia, and us disliking homophobia doesn’t mean we aren’t/can’t conceptualize other social structures in the world. The fact from what they have read from me they assumed that I'm fine with homophobic characters when it's about being awful to characters who haven't manifested any kind of negative attitude and also expecting a new character from a rural area to suddenly be well liberated and accepting of gay men. People can be ignorant and become homophobic but people can also be ignorant because they don't know the situation exactly. It's like they only see things black and white and nothing more.
