I definitely get where he's coming from. I'm pretty sensitive, so I have to use very particular soaps, or shampoo, etc, etc... and not having moisturizer on hand can be pretty brutal to dry skin (￣∇￣")
I think when it comes to skin care, people underestimate how important it is to keep routine once you start.

Actually I don’t blame him. There are a lot of people with sensitive skin too. Honestly I’d like it if the author showed how his skin starts getting irritated or breaking out, I can’t have too oily products or too drying products because I have combination oily and dry and it’s easy for my skin to go from having the right amount of oils to breaking out in cystic acne or having such bad dry patches my skin gets red and irritated. So I don’t blame him for really wanting at the very least decent skin care.
When I went to visit my sister in another state, my skin was constantly breaking out (mind you it was only 4 days ) She didn't even have a face wash and mine was too big to take in my carry on. So soap was my only resort along with a serum that works best with my face wash.
Y'all flaming mc for complaining for basic skin care... like, that is actually a valid complaint. MC probably has spent his life using a curated skin care routine and the slightest off set of that skin care routine could cause him to break out because his skin is so used to the routine that anything that isn't those products will probably irritate his skin.
