I also have the same question, of all the girls in the series why Hina? If the author just actually wanted Akira to end up with a girl, why pick hina?
Nah she almost didn't change, out of the few times she's in the novel her personality is still the same, being homophobic to the other characters and a wannabe "tsundere" just for Akira to notice her. I have also read the "what if? endings" and extra stories where the mc ends up with different love interest but after reading the Canon ending where he ends up with Hina, I lost all motivation to even care on does events cause no matter how many alternate endings their are, those are just fantasy and didn't happen canonically at all.
Wow that's upsetting. I thought that maybe if hina become more likable or less homophobic than I would've accept her as the real love interest. Guess that idea is throw out the window.
