I understand where you're coming from, so to explain to you, subspace is an altered mind situation for, well, a sub during their BDSM session with the dom. Some might say it's the reason people do BDSM at all, ahah.

Basically, during that period the Dom is fully in control of the Sub, and the Sub lets themselves get submerged in nothingness. What we see in this chapter is the Dom giving a command and the Sub performing it. Then the Dom realises that something went wrong and, not having a safe word (which is crucial for BDSM sessions) and relevant experience, tries to "plea for mercy", basically reversing their dynamic. This doesn't cause the Sub to come out out of subspace due to a) their inexperience and b) the lack of dynamic. The scene ends with a sub drop aka the Sub being forcefully brought back from subspace (in healthy BDSM relationships it's a gradual process with a lot of aftercare), instantly realising the situation and dropping down.

Also, let's not forget to mention that any Drop, be it sub drop or dom drop is a dangerous, dangerous thing that can leave permeating trauma on one's person. Simply put, it's a terrible experience for both.
