They made us suffer with that development when all they had to do was to merge them because they were the same soul! It worked pretty well in other series like in (Spoiler of other series) ''Devil Wants to hug''
It's giving Kagome and Kikyo. It's kind of like how Kagome was the reincarnation of Kikyo but she was nothing like her. She was her own person and I think in the anime there were times where she wished Kikyo never existed because it felt like she was always living in Kikyo's shadow for Inuyasha's love. I just hope Ian doesn't go through that and if he does it doesn't last that long because I feel Ian slowly falling in love. I hope he doesn't confuse them for being Brian's feelings over his own ((T_T))
