Him not knowing how to fight ghosts is not the problem.
The issue is he takes risks which would be obvious to a normal person when they've had a weird situation once and a person warn them multiple times to stay home and in public places.
MC has deliberately ignored advice given by the ML. There are plenty of mangas and comics where a character is reasonably confused and do not act as much of a brat as this MC. He reads as very unlikable because he refuses to listen, acts like reckless, and blames the people who are trying to help him; it's that simple.

And if they become more close atleast he can ask the reason why he been chase by the ghost. And the second, he know ML didn't do harm or anything.
