Why did he try to kill Lee Kirin in the side story?

I’m re-reading again, and I’m still confused by this. Was be actually trying to kill him, or wanted to? But he also told kirin to leave him. So doesn’t that mean be wanted to protect him in a way? And also, why would he want Kirin to leave, or to kill him, if be bad liked him and been obsessed with him so much? And protected him so much? Didn’t he like Kirin and accept their relationship?

He doesn’t feel love for Kirin he feels obsession or protection what is his but he did truly conflict between wanting to kill him but I think he didn’t in the end because Lee was the only one who truly understood him and Stood by him. The last piece of humanity in him to hold on he won’t be alone in life if Lee doesn’t die. Also once he starts killing multiple ppl he’ll end up messing up and getting caught, but with Lee he takes time and calculated plans on killing once in a awhile which will be better in the long run. But then again I have no idea what happens in a psychopaths mind

It's the constant push and pull in the mind of a psychopath. Kang Mu likes Lee Kirin, or at least has high regard for him, because he's the only person who at least have enough influence to stop him from doing a killing spree. At the same time, LK is also the one person standing against his freedom to kill.
