dude he's literally a green flag. he thinks she was the cherished daughter of a duke that lived a lavished life. also I think people forget the time this take place in. she was expected to be the perfect wife, that stays at home & makes an heir. even her maid/nanny told her that if her husband was mean or hits her she had to let it be. he clearly has the best intentions for her & is just worried. they both suck at communicating too. as their relationship progresses hopefully they'll be better at talking to each other. yeah it sometimes gets annoying how he talks, but she does the same when not clearing up his misconception of her upbringing
I still hate on him, he doesn't deserve her... and I dare a lot to ship her with another characters, cuz uuughhh... RIFTAN MAKES ME SICK.
Maybe Maxi was slow in this chapter, and the next ones, but believe me, SHE WILL IMPROVE A LOT and he will still not give her the credit she deserves.
