Its not uncommon for editors to force authors to stretch a story out if it’s popular and making money, this manga probably sells a lot in japan. I find it hard to believe that it’s the author fault that the arc is basically stagnant and going nowhere. Remember we westerners will complain but the Japanese audience won’t. And typically they care more about them than international fans.
