Denile is a river there but his feelings for her is not as cutesy and pure as love. I would be surprised if he actually romantically loves her

true, it's a self-absorbed, warped sort of love. He desires what he covets, and she so happens to have them: the eyes that symbolise royalty, his own physical qualities mirrored as his twin, and her sharp mind. In a way, he wants to fuck himself, quite literally. His desire for what he cannot have for himself morphs into an unrelenting obsession mc is wise enough to handle.
Sure hes obsessed with her in an evil way but definitely not in love. He might feel she is his possession because of the eyes and because she 'stole' his power. If it develops into love then its definitely not romantic type
