What I truly see is that there's no guilt at all, he never concerned or regretted about treating Agnes that way. What he focused was more about how Agnes forget him and he finally realized that he is in love. I never really saw him regretting his action. Even now, he just said that he want Agnes' heart and love that once his, as if he want to take back what just had stolen from him. That was very selfish and pathetic of him.
