they actually do love each other so much they were so sappy in volumes 5-6, which are my favorite volumes. i actually wished for them to stop being that way because it made me soo jealous, sana all (which i later regretted because of the angst in the next volumes ).
i knowww it seems unbelievable, knowing that they hate each other in the manhwa's current timeline, but it gets better. the journey to get there is just . the "i love you" part was actually four years later since they knew each other.
spoiler alert! taekjoo actually got amnesia and forgot everything, including who he was. he went missing and the NIS gave up on finding him and considered him dead, but zhenya never did. brooo, zhenya was so SO MAD he threatened to blow up the NIS.
timeskip. after finding him, zhenya was really patient while taekjoo was still recovering his memories and from his injuries. knowing zhenya's sex drive, his past self would have forced taekjoo to do it, but their first time here was very consensual.
then taekjoo actually left zhenya after this because his memories started coming back, and he was very confused as to why he dated zhenya when he had done bad things to him. zhenya was so tempted to go after taekjoo and chase him after he left, but he didn’t because he didn’t want to be hated by taekjoo again. i was actually surprised too and kinda proud of zhenya for giving taekjoo the space he needed. a lot of things happened.
then taekjoo came back to zhenya and told him he loved him for the first time . he had recovered his memories. zhenya didn’t say it back, but actions speak louder than words. actually, taekjoo said, "perhaps zhenya struggled to define or give meaning to his emotions like others could, even if he felt them the same way." there are speculations about a 3rd novel, and i hope zhenya says he loves taekjoo too there. i really do hope they get married .
and zhenya didn’t apologize huhu . they're bad at communicating HAHAHAH. but when they dated, zhenya did those things because taekjoo allowed them HAHAHAH. "he simply allowed zhenya to do as he pleased. it was a win-win situation: kwon taekjoo got the desperately needed rest, and zhenya got to satisfy his overwhelming sexual appetite."
zhenya didn’t actually turn into a "perfect green flag boyfriend," but taekjoo loves him that way. they match each other's freak .

To be fair, I don’t think Zhenya ever hated Taekjoo, he just didn’t really care one way or another in the beginning and he was probably smitten even before realizing he was even mildly interested.
He’s always said that Taekjoo “trapped him first” even though Taekjoo doesn’t seem to know when that was. And finally in part 2 we get our answer.
Granted, the version I read is MTL, so I’m sure I’m missing some nuances, but I think the overall gist was conveyed.
Anyway, yes, they become such a freaking cute couple. At this point I’ve reread part 2 countless times.
I remember the first time I read part 2 volume 4. It was such a blow. I’m glad I didn’t have to wait to read the next volume to finally see their happy ending, even though there was a bit of drama before getting there.
Hmm, if there’s a part 3, I wonder what hurdles they’ok face? It would have to be solely personal since Taekjoo is no longer prioritizing country over love.
My only gripe is that Taekjoo’s mom doesn’t know about them.
How do you explain being “single” and always hanging out with this one guy who’s supposed to be in a relationship? (In part 1 when the mom asks about Zhenya’s relationship status Taekjoo was like “he’s seeing someone.” ).
I think it would’ve taken her some time to wrap her head around it, but would’ve come around in the end.

yesss haha you'll read it later in the 5th volume where zhenya refers to himself as princess he was kidnapped and taekjoo came to save him. zhenya said something like "you came to rescue the princess" referring to himself, and then taekjoo was like "who is the princess? do not be ridiculous." HAHAHAH there was also this scene in volume 10 where zhenya was in trouble and taekjoo came to rescue him and said "Then, shall we go and rescue the princess?"
zhenya also always cooks for taekjoo, waits for him to finish with his missions (when he doesn't interfere with it), and visits taekjoo's mom when taekjoo is away. and also zhenya kicking and giggling because he thought the meaning of saekki is 'baby.' which is true, but taekjoo calls him that to mean 'bastard'.
he's also very spoiled by taekjoo and gets princess treatment when they eat korean food, zhenya doesn't know how to use chopsticks, so taekjoo feeds him by placing food into his rice bowl. zhenya also hints 3 times that he wants to get married and tells taekjoo to do the proposing, which is so baby girl of him

i'm not sureee, but i think these are fan translations because, in some parts, there are explanations or parentheses when things get confusing. but there were still parts that were really confusing to me, so i think it's more like an edited MTL. the translations were good tho.
Ah i see… yeah i got files for a Spanish translation, but a lot of things are weird and most of the time Taekjoo ‘s name isn’t translated properly which is kinda of funny, but also a bit annoying.
Definitely didn’t really get the marriage part. They mention marriage, but since the translations are wonky, it didn’t come off as wanting a proposal.

i will always love you zhenya i just finished the novel and zhenya had the sweetest character development he is the definition of "to be loved is to be changed." he tried his best to be a good lover to kwon taekjoo. he did not do the things that would make taekjoo hate him. it was stated a lot of times that his fear was to be hated by taekjoo.
i cried when taekjoo finally said i love you to zhenya. all the hardships they went through makes my heart ache. i also really loved that zhenya became bestfriends with taekjoo's mother and calls her little woman. i also find it so funny that zhenya expects taekjoo to do the proposing when they get married. he told him that if he ever proposed, there is no need for a grand proposal zhenya is the princess in the relationship our princess yevgeny
