It’s basically VR, it’s been done
Neuralink has been tested, and Noland Arbaugh, the first player implanted with the chip, allegedly finished in second place for Mario Kart with the given technology. It isnt commercially available, understandably, as the developments I have described have only occurred this year, but it is definitely in the works.

It’s highly experimental and poses legitimate problems, even without ethics in consideration. As the technology, even in fiction, is often described to interact with neural activities, I feel as though a legitimate discussion should be held on an age range for those permitted to partake if this technology ever becomes commercial.
If we’re talking “pods” similarly shown in the story, then that technology is genuinely available as is. VR accessories are available for purchase, albeit having a high price point, but a similar stimulus is available.
Trying not to rant, but this is a point of discussion I find genuinely interesting!

No, that’s genuinely something to think about with this branch of progression! The BCI (brain-computer interface) tech I’m talking about has been found to RESHAPE an adult’s brain! Cognitive impairments is a real threat during prolonged use. Imagine what it could do to a child’s?
It’s also technology, as seen in SAO, and the possibility of hacking is already posing problems. A malicious malignant with access to a phone could kill over a hundred users, and they’d just look like an average person walking about.

Serious question… do all these vr’s give actually sensation? Can you “feel” the grass, pain etc? No way would I compare a clunky vr headset to an all immersive capsule in manwha/manga etcGuess the brain implant would be closest? Did he drive the car and feel the acceleration? Or just play normal game on screen? I’m not talking about playing a game, (swinging at the air in living room)I’m talking about being in the game.. that’s what makes it so great… and totally fantasy as of now I guess.

I’m really not trying to be a party pooper, I’m actually telling you that capsule technology will probably happen in your lifetime As of right now, no, the immersion is limited to being in capsules. They can have motion imbedded, so a stimuli to driving is possible, but experiencing “pain” from being hit in a game isn’t possible yet. Again, VR capsules are commercially available, just expensive! A game with such immersive capabilities hasn’t been developed yet, but with progress with BCI, it’s almost an inevitability that someone will try to develop the software, if just to test the capabilities of the technology. I kinda shit on it a lot, but with the developments, researchers are also looking at possibilities of aiding in rehabilitation of stroke victims, aiding in memory retrieval, aid in physiological and psychological therapy, and of course, technology control. Implemented chip users have noted changing and playing music in their heads, perform decently in video games, and so many more applications! Cheer up, baby, it’ll happen!

This also happened in SAO.... they invented some capsules and that lead to the pain tolerance being toggled with and all of a sudden, if you felt too much pain in the game, your brain or heart would have a reacting that leads to death as if the pain were under normal circumstances... terrible work, honestly.
Never give up!!! Though I wish companies would research/invest in making gaming capsules a REAL ITEM!! Ugh I hope in my lifetime!!
