Instead of asking if he is happy that way, because her point is about how sad is to be lonely for being different, she choose to make decisions for him. She could just had asked. Period. I could understand that she grow up without emotional support from her parents and her experience is limited on what she learned on the village (too much old people) and shallow friendships while studying, but her relationship with the ML was comfortable enough to her to be open with him and ask it before making something wrong, we can see they're close. I'm hoping for her character development and a better version of herself.
