I don't think it's exactly about support, it's about acceptance. She acted like "because it's unlikely that in this small town full of old people I won't be on your side (or accept you) because I don't want to be single out as well". What I think it's even more stupid I'd that she wasn't single out for anything. What she said wasn't an excuse or a valid reason to what she told them. And even makes me more baffled that while she said she doesn't want to be lonely for being not normal when she's the only one who thinks like that, nobody excluded her for her family , but she is the one doing it to them.

I just used the word support coz that's what she used in her dialogue. Though the word accept has more personal space. If it's acceptance, She should accept herself first before giving her ideals to others. I would even make sense of her actions if she was the parent or sister but she's a neighbor (I don't know if she's considered a friend cause no part showed that).
Giving this notion, I'm just putting myself to the ML's shoes, like if I'm in a relationship and someone interfere like how she did, it would really annoy me. Like you can talk to me, but taking an action first which already involved others is a non.
Though I know she knew that what she did was wrong, but still went for it
What? Girl you don't need to support them. You're not even a relative I thought she found a bullied classmate for being gay.. she doesn't make sense. She generalized being abnormal too much
