I think they’re trying to do the trope of like how you don’t know what you have until you’ve lost it. It comes across to me like a possession thing, a kid that doesn’t want his toy until they see another kid playing with it and then suddenly want it again.
I mean when u think about u that shii also happens irl so I wouldn't say it's dumb. Guys like girls fawning over them or girls giving them their utmost attention cus it boosts their egos but imagine when that very attention stops, they'll start to question why and do stupid shit to try and get the girl's attention back because suddenly they don't like it getting taken away. ╮(￣へ￣)╭
