It seems she's just trying to avoid becoming the "demon king" and just wants to live freely. The North has become her home and has broken their view of her as the "evil" demon king since she's been using her power for good rather than evil as the "prophecy" states.
I understand bc her backstory. But the backstory has no relevance except for the fact that it was created solely to be the reason for her being so naive. Because she's naive, she doesn't question things such as the high priest that conveniently sent the Saint after the knights already died. She supposedly is familiar with the story, but it's useless since it does not aid her in thinking logically.
