You get the first hint in chapter 3. At first it doesn't seem relevant but as you get to chapter 18 and 23 you start to put the pieces together.
And from chapter 23 it is also hinted that someone (I'm gonna guess a dragon) possessed her body. That is further hinted in chapter 30
