I mean, he saw how happy she was when she started a new life with her unborn baby that he didn't want to disturb it. That was the only reason. Also, she was the one who came to him and proposed a marriage with him. It wasn't like he only started caring after she became a countess.
Yup that's the problem it just shows that she isn't even aware how much she was abused and still comes back to him even tho he and his family hurt her so much without proper justification. I just think that it would have been better if they showed a real sincere apology and like i think most of readers agree that he should have suffered a lil bit more before she forgive him fully
