Another plea for this to be a kdrama, that kiss was Kdrama worthy who y’all want as the ML. I vote Seo In Guk (he has the beauty mark under the eye already and everything + killer gaze or in Korean 눈빛)

I was thinking the same. But as in actors regarding OP’s question I think Byeon Wooseok would fit Beom Taeha perfectly imo

Not necessarily if Netflix makes the kdrama

If it’s stays true to the content of the story, it would have to be like on the level of 365 days/dni with all the smut scenes lmao. Aka real nips out, fake dick, etc.

Unless you’re saying for Netflix to completely change the race of all the characters or Americanize it lol. Majority of the plot contains the smut, so it would be hard to work with

Ooohhh Beom Tasha is a good pic too. As for the censorship, it doesn’t necessarily have to show everything

The website cut my comment down lmao so here’s what I actually wrote:

Ooohhh Beom Wooseok is a good pick too. As for the censorship, it doesn’t necessarily have to show everything. There’s plenty of kdrama shows that are on the “mature side” that reference these types of scenes (for example, Pale Moon shows both s*x scenes/cheating without nudity) In my opinion, nudity isn’t a must for it to represent the writing well. Besides, there’s very few shows that are based off of written material that are 100% accurate anyway

I'm confused by this because Netflix has made really good kdramas never changing the race of the characters

It’s the content that matters. Korean industry is known for not having much sexual and explicit scenes. The exceptions are extremely rare or are actually the few porn movies. The biggest problem is the story content. It would be nearly impossible to include majority of the scenes when it’s all about sex and rated r content. There’s also not enough content to make a kdrama rn, unless they entirely change the story.

The reason why I say they’d maybe change the race is because asian censorship likely won’t allow a show like that centered around sex. If Netflix were to make a deal and be able to adapt it on their own, they would likely have to change the whole setting, setting it in america or something and fill in the main characters with random races which would allow them to have more freedom to show explicit content. It’s super unlikely you would get an entire Korean drama, with all Korean actors/actresses, etc. that could bypass that explicit guideline. There’s also the issue with any popular actors possibly getting bad publicity because netizens and Korea are closer to the modest mentality and wouldn’t like their beloved actors/actresses seen in that way or doing more sexual things.

It’s like when Jennie from blackpink went to act on the show, The Idol. Majority was all backlash and people filled anything with her face on it with things like “gross,” lectures about how she should be a role model and that she had young fans, or puking emojis.

Anyways, it would only make sense if adaptations of smut manhwa were normalized? Can you name 10 smut manhwas adapted into kdramas, that mostly stayed true to the story and most of the explicit scenes were included? So far I haven’t heard of any, only regular romance manhwas that are for rated 15

Considering this story hasn’t ended yet, I wouldn’t say it’s fair to say that it wouldn’t be possible to make a kdrama out of this. I’ve seen an incredible amount of kdrama + dramas from other Asian countries over at least a decade and I would give my personal and humble opinion that the content that has been shown so far is not that difficult at all to make a complete show of if we use other shows that have already been completed as reference. The material already present would probably be enough for the first 5-8 episodes at least, depending on the length of each individual episode. There’s quite a lot to cover here, not just the sexual content. In fact, I would say the actual seen sexual content is the topic that shows up the least amount. The majority of the time, the MC’s perception of her failed marriage, her job, and the journey and mixed feelings of pursuit of the younger ML is the majority of the content being currently shown. Plus, since there’s also other perspectives being shown (the ML and the husband), those would also probably go into the show’s duration as well.

The pacing being shown is classic kdrama pacing, which is why I’m confused why you would think that this is lacking to make up a show. I’m familiar with Korea’s hesitance with mature content. I didn’t say any of my previous comment without that knowledge. I said it having already seen shows that cover similar content to this one, especially ones I’ve seen before without full nude bodies being shown but the content still working out. I don’t think they need to change the actors at all, the way the drama would be show is the only thing that would need to be slightly changed aka making the sexual scenes more subtle (kissing + clothes being removed but no full nudity). There’s shows out there already who do this, perhaps you haven’t seen them? To sure, but I would suggest checking them out if you haven’t to see what I mean.

Perhaps full nudity is what you’re looking for I guess, but personally, I don’t particularly need to see full on dick or female parts to appreciate a “mature” scene. Just a matter of different tastes I suppose.

There isn’t enough covered in the story yet to make anything out of it. There’s only bits and pieces of the the FL and her trashy ex husband’s past as well as a large amount of no info on the ML’s past. It would have to take either more seasons of this story or the end of it to actually get enough content.

Or they would just have to make crap up to salvage it. Anyways when majority of an audience want adaptations, they usually like it to stay pretty close to the original, so to need to censor, simplify, and cut out a large portion of a story, just in my opinion can never live up to its potential. It’s like when an English publisher like manta or web.t.0o.n that is aimed for rated 15 specifically picks up smut manhwas and then decided to cut out and censor most of the story.

And those shows you mention are most likely all under the genres of action, drama, or romance. Not originally smut, so such adaptations were not an issue. Those kdramas you’ve always seen showed extremely limited sexual scenes (I’d say one per kdrama lmfao). Can I ask if you know any smut manhwa adapted into a kdrama? Anyways regardless, in my opinion there isn’t enough plot for anything good to come out of it yet. Too many plot holes. (Though there has been times where a kdrama finished before the manhwa even did, in all cases, the kdrama bullshitted their way through and we’re forced out make up new and random plots in order to get a different ending they want. Not faithful to the ending of the kdrama (nevertheless and extraordinary you/July found by chance).

Oh and I do think that to say there’s enough content for 5-8 episodes only, would be irresponsible on the production crew of the kdrama’s part. Cause with that little amount of info, they’d either have to rush the author to get to know what the ending is, or make up what they want. Both options would feel like they lead to bad story writing. Extraordinary you and nevertheless deviated from the original plot especially towards the ending. Nevertheless kdrama made it a typical cliche fairy tale ending of a toxic love story, instead of the original realistic ending in the manhwa. Extraordinary you included entirely new plot points, backstory, and ending, etc.

I suppose the thing here that we’re finding differences in is that I never once thought about this being translated 100% accurately regardless -shrug- I never held that expectation. Considering that the story would likely be bought from the TV producers from the author, I would expect the story to have changes (which is what I mentioned already). When I said kdrama I did in fact mean the usual format of kdrama as is, not specifically a porn-like story. I do not consider this manhwa a porn-like story at all as it is right now. Mature, yes. Idk, I suppose it’s bc I’m more interested in the angst/ the suffering the MC is going through and how everyone relates to each other (which in my opinion seems to be the focus here, not the nudity. At least not yet). When I made this original post, I did not have in mind a nude-filled framing of this story. I’ll agree to disagree that this story does not/will not have enough to make a kdrama
