They don't spell out every little thing that happened for MC to start liking ML. But for now it's just "I'm alone, he's alone, he's protected and cared for me like no one else ever has, I have been abandoned, he is my pack, I like touching him" I don't think MC is aware yet how much he loves him or that feeling is still developing
