No. MC did "abandon" them. He fell in love with the duke, asked if the Duke loved him back, and he heard the duke say that the Duke hates him. The guide changed the dukes real answer to "I hate you". So the MC quit because he put all his time and love into these game characters just to be told he was hated. However the game characters didn't know MC heard the wrong answer, so they thought he abandoned them. The guide did cause it, but the MC still technically abandoned them. Anyways, this gets cleared up in the next 2 chapters.
Does that mean the MC has never abandoned them and it was all the guide doing?
