Um...How you don't see ML care for his own race that he tend to be forgetful when one of his kind succeed in self harm? This indicates his sympathetic, caring, more humane emotions and mental is more sensitive. That's how the plot portrayed him imo. So, ML being nice to the girl is genuine.
I can forgive fictional stalking, but tricking the abuse victim to use as a tool to trap your love interest is really crappy
