Touji did love Kiyoto but he also loved Yachiyo and was running way and repressing those feelings and Kiyoto knew that but he wanted Touji to only love him and he realized Touji wouldn't be able to do that and that a part of him would always misses Yachiyo and be sad ... So he let him go, for Touji's sake.
But i genuinely thought that mc and kiyoto's love was genuine. Like i genuinely want this to be a story of right person wrong time turned to fated meeting with the love of your life thing. Like mc and his bsf was right person but not truly suitable for that time thus it failing then mc found his true love, kiyoto. Maybe I'm just way too biased but the kinda life kiyoto and mc already built tgt after that many years isn't smth that can be formed from "casual feelings" imo. Yea i genuinely was hoping for kiyoto to be the end game
