Hell yeah I'd be insecure if the only thing I was good at my friend began to do on a whim and is suddenly praised and more successful than I am
that sounds like a you problem because i would’ve been so excited to be writer besties with my friend even if she was more successful
that still gives her no reason to be so shady. If ur so jealous then end then friendship like....

If my beloved friend would get something i always wanted i would get a bit sad and disappointed but that would be overthrown by the happiness i would feel for her because even though i wanted to achieve it does not stop me from being happy and supportive towards her <3 thats what frienship id about celebrating each other

She achieves national fame and sells over 300,000 copies on her first novel. Is it THAT surprising if I was jealous? Smh I didn't say id do anything like sabotage her career or throw her computer out the window Thats my hg ofc not

Imagine the pain knowing that the words that you POURED your heart into writing, isn't even given a second thought by the general public. But Instead your best friends 'go with the flow' and 'interesting ' novel that doesn't even need to make any sense, gains more success and recognition than your own work? Spending years mastering your craft, perfecting your vocabulary and skill, beaten by pure talent
Not to say that she wasn't happy for her friend, she probably was. It's just knowing the time and effort you put into being the best writer you can be, is surpassed by a sloppy beginner. Hey i mean, we can see that the mc clearly put a lot of effort into writing her novel, but from a masters/professional prespective
