Honestly I prefer the cliche of rofan protagonists being abused/neglected by their family or being lonely orphans to it being clearly established that the mc desperately wants to go back only to change their mind easily as soon as they fall in love. I hope this story won't be like that and they properly address his dilemma, but I'm not very optimistic

I'm not 100% sure if it's the same series (same character name and setting though) but I'm reading the novel for it now... or the post-novel, and basically after defeating the demon king, Ray finds out he isn't able to go home, so he dejectedly builds a tower in the middle of nowhere so he can be alone because there's no one who understands him and no one who cares about him, and he can never see his family again. But the knight Albert, decides to climb that tower and move in with him, and they both sort of bond and cope. And the story kind of talks about their past, and how Albert came to care for Ray and vice versa.
(I'm only a few chapters in though)
