pov. you read a yandere story, without bothering to actually realise what a yandere is.
brother this is pretty decently close to a yandere character portrayal. it's still romanticised, but it actually shows how he's toxic af, eg pulling a knife on her, threatening her life, sudden mood swings, deluding himself into thinking hes actually in a relationship with her, etc etc
if you actually think about other stories and how mcs are treated, they hella misrepresent toxic behaviours and paint them as lovey dovey cute quirks...
Aoi does not love her, he's deluded himself into loving the idea of her, and keeps her as an object/pet with the mentality that he's her boyfriend
most other stories make it seem scary at the start, but twist it into "Oh he loves me so much, i guess its fine" nuh uh wronggg he's mentally ill sweetheart
