They didn't protect them, their goal was to arrest/kill as many of the hwasa as possible. Then cooperate with kim nakho to arrest the monk and then arrest kim nakho. If they left him to die, they would never have another chance to take out that many hwasa again
Tbh I was expecting for the hwasa or whatever to kill Crane and the three crane hood or something but nooo the MC and the good guys has to go in and “kind of protect them” when they are still bad guys but meh.
So far it’s not that bad. No romance thankfully.
