as u know kanos also said that el is equally more of a child as El just recently born as a spirit king and having past life memories his powers aren't used naturally,and he need to learn first , step by step. Also Elrien mentioned before that El still not capable of making a decision for himself. In order to do what u want him to do he needed his nature personality awaken(the cold aloof persona) but El doesn't want that.
