Someone further down the comments mentioned it was possibly like Sigmund Freud's theory about personality where you have the: Id (basic instincts), ego (decision maker - meditates between the other two) and super-ego (morality).

that entity downstairs in ch10 seems the same as one in ch3 when mugo was transforming in rage, maybe it's of the purest emotions? like sir mugo is a matured side of a god and then others go lower down personality levels
