I think it’s also because since they’re defecting from the second prince to the first prince it’s probably a big deal, especially since it sounds like they were very prominent in their support for him and did a lot, but since they’re switching to the first instead of going neutral it’s a big sign to other people that are close witht their family that the second prince isn’t worthy of the throne

and seems like that the second prince is not even being considered anymore a candidate for the throne, leo married sophia because he is from the first prince's faction, and sophia's family was from the second prince's faction when she was engaged to him, but now that sophia is engaged to leo, her family turned away and now are part of the first prince faction, and basically their family seemed like a very important piece of power for the fight for the throne even if they are consided a lesser family (i think they are barons or marquis i dont remember now im bad with titles)
and the second prince seems jealous of their relationship now lolol in the latest chapter, sophia was showing her new research to leo, and SP was talking shit about them
