I agree with the other person that reading it doesn’t mean I like that the rape happened (if I understood them and you, maybe not sorry). But I still read it to find the ending, my brain just wants to know. It’s so hard, especially with OCD, I gotta check routinely. Only way I can stop is if I forget the title, and hope to not come across it.
I agree with you that the rape is heavily romanticised in BL community and that rape can be implied, not explicitly drawn out—adds NOTHING to the story. A lot of BL I have read were ruined by adding explicit rape scenes. Majority of the popular BL have rape.
What’s worse that authors do is brushing the SA/rape off as if nothing happened, or minimise it. It’s also ridiculous that many toxic MLs have a fan base.
It’s gotten so normalised that I feel I’m the weird one for complaining.
