The golden headband he wears is more like a binding seal put on him by Tripitaka the Buddhist monk protagonist of journey to the west and he was given it by the buddhistava Kuanyin (An absolute Goat of a woman who helps like a thousand times in the story and is just badassery incarnate like she flies on a lotus flower which is actually just a flower of swords??? Like wth how but ill stop yapping bout TOP nigga Kuanyin now) and when he recites a spell it tightens around wukongs head and gives him CRAZY migraines like inhuman level shit cus this is the same dude that destroyed heaven cus he felt like it hence a "prisoner" of the golden headband since he can't take it off either.oh and yeah he's not a monkey he's a rock. Like just some really big rock that split in half to give birth to small magic rock egg that inherited it's big rock fathers magic and turned into a stone monkey (wukong) and to just remind you how ridiculously strong this guy is and add to kuanyins list of badass since she can flyswat him (before he achieves enlightment) when he bowed to the four cardinal directions right after being born he accidentally activated laser eyes that pierced through the Palace of the jade emperor.

You should ! It's a really good story and there should be some English versions on amazon but it does take commitment cus it's a HUGE story (like excessively big) I'd suggest a version that's a bit summarised cus they have all the info and it's just useless bits you don't really need removed
