You can't make a story be not what it's suppose to be because you look for the same plot line in every yaoi. Hangyul was meant to do that frfr! 99% of the time the MC is always going to perceive their love interest in better light. It's not your love, it's theirs, and that's why I am loving it, because there is no chase between this dynamic.
