No no no cuz I totally get you! Because you se bears are canines... but you don't call them dogs right? Same eith wolves and jackals etc... so lie all this subspecies have their own name right? But the western dragons don't really have one... just Dragon... as most the color or main characteristic + dragon... so it is kind of the name of that species specifically even if used to describe other subspecies as well... but it really irks me too... like no that's not a dragon, that's a wyvern... even more so because a lot of works makes wyverns to be dragons and all... like drakes and others are usually called what species of dragons they are... but wyverns get are the exception and are sometimes used insteas of the "proper" western dragon...
Honestly it bothered me a lot too... then I started to categorize western dragons in a different way in my head... I call them true dragons (it's not very known but the same is done with eastern dragons because there are subespecies of it too). It also used to annoy the heck out of me when they make dragons to have no intelligence or have the intelect os a beast... gosh it used to anger me so much... so I just... separated them into being High Dragons in my head... kinda like we do with elves... high elves, forest elves, dark elves and such...
After that I kinda stopped getting mad... but yeah... I totally get it...
stop calling them dragons they’re not even dragons idk why this is bothering me so much
