okay. i feel like jinhyeong was MEANT to be a toxic person. it was first shown when we see he was only using uyun for his own satisfaction and didn't take their relationship serious. he obviously grew from it and changed, but that still meant at one point he was toxic. So it shouldn't be surprising that he did bad things and it shouldn't be surprising that people are upset at him. he belittled the relationship with the ex and didn't take it serious either.
he also was abused as a child and growing up didnt learn how to cope so he projected everything onto real life. its affected his day to day life and basically controlled him before she started to get better. it was the main reason behind his world view.
she just saw that he was distant and as someone else said, was overcompensating.
i don't think the ex did anything inherently wrong. she was just frustrated. jinhyeong was toxic, that's all. It also just goes to show how abuse can psychologically effect people into adulthood too which is sad :( the mental health aspect is handled so well and the relationship dynamics are as well, no character is perfect
