I didn't read the epilogue but if that's the case, did the author do a short story last minute? (Maybe company plans change for the author and force them to do it? Idk) Or was the original plan always a short story all along? If the former then I can understand. It was out of their control. But if the later, then there's no excuse.
The anthropomorphic aspect of the story is kinda huh? The news going off about fates indicated they were gonna do something with it but it just never came back up? The plot itself is good but just the animal characteristics part that kinda doesn’t add anything? It’s just there. If they weren’t gonna do something with it, imo the story could’ve gone without it and it would’ve probably made more sense.
Because for example, imagine going into the story but everyone has elaborate wicked tattoo markings on their faces and all over their body but the story just never addresses it nor does anything with it, and it’s just a normal part of their life. Wouldn’t you think huh?
