Well maybe not die but helping him out is what the duke intended on doing
the drugged part wasn't really the problem it was more like anytime the duke was mad or they got into a fight he would litterally throw himself onto him. Like during the time when Jace got back from being kidnapped by cooper that scene was so much like rape
I can be one of those ppl to say that this story wasn't too bad as I did have some opinions while reading but I feel like some of the rape comments were a little off like yeah the guy who actually wanted to take advantage of Jace that was rape but the duke trying to help out Jace while drugged so he wouldn't die and he basically gave dude notice of what he was going to do and he was conscious enough to agree so I didn't think it was rape but I could be wrong
