Hi!! About the rape in this manga, rarely someone really overlooks it, the piece is fictional, and also started as a spin off of another story by the same author, people like the story because it truly is nicely written, characters have realistic personalities, and by reading the story that originated this one, you can see that their relationship goes way back in the day, with scenes that are not shown to this manga specifically.
However, if truly this is not your cup of tea, feel free to not really read anything out of reputation, a lot of classic yaois have less romantic starting points (=・ω・=) and to make sure you are safe, always check the tags, lists and genres of any media you consume before diving in based on recommendations!! But also, do not assume people take things lightly or overlook topics, have a nice reading!!

Oh gosh don't worry!! xD I would say what is nice about this one is how it takes slice-of-life very seriously, and you can feel the passing time in the story, wich is rare for the genre and that is what I personally believe most people like about it, but I would never recommend as a more romantic, sweet and chill read, also not as smut since it has a lot of dialogues in-between scenes!! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ It gets a lot better after Volume 8, since their relationship has a big improvement!!
If this one is not much of your go for, I recommend Ameiro Paradox for a classic yaoi that you might enjoy, it's adorable!! (≧∀≦) And has a less chaotic reading, boa leitura!!

... is it really, though? I read this a while back but all I remember is the couple of chapters after senpai was raped and he decides to forgive morinaga because he is lonely. Morinaga also kind of blames senpai for raping him because senpai was 'insensitive' to his feelings. Besides that I don't remember the rape being addressed in later chapters.

They're Rocky and until like volume 8 souichi believes he's being forced and blackmailed by morinaga but when they're apart from eachother becauseof the fight and he has time to think he realized he wanted it all along and he was making excuses (he didn't understand why he wanted morinaga like that) that's why later in that chapter he reassured mori, initiated sex, and even told him he wanted him to stay by his side
Ah but senpai also isn't very honest about his feelings, and although it's very slow, he learns to understand his feelings better and be more considerate towards mori ( ̄へ ̄)
I had high expectations for this since people prized it so much, but in the end, not even more than 2 chapters in, there's rape. Just another story where the mc assaults an unwilling character and then that crime gets completely overlooked by everyone. It's a pity really, I liked the long haired dude and the protag seemed nice.... Welp, whatever.
