yes, the friends arn't the best ones because he was not the only one who did stuff behind ashes back. but to be honest, I dont like that ash is keeping quiet about it. That made it so much worser. I don't know if I read it wrong but I think Ash gaslighted Lyle when the missunderstanding was over.
