Look, if you can’t get past that trope, then this story really isn’t for you. But don’t act like the plot is “ruined” just because it doesn’t fit your preference. The confession is necessary. The original owner did things that were genuinely vile and caused someone severe trauma — almost to the point of breaking their sanity.
The MC didn’t “change” into a better person out of nowhere. It’s a completely different soul in that body — someone gentle and decent — and it’s unfair and unrealistic to expect him to carry the blame for crimes he never committed. This isn’t some cheap whitewashing attempt where everyone conveniently forgets the past.
The previous Jiang’s actions were intolerable and irredeemable. That kind of damage doesn’t just disappear because you personally dislike a trope. If you can’t understand why the reveal matters, then yes — dropping the story was probably the right choice.

The plot you mentioned has been recycled into countless of stories that I've come across too, another reason why I made that comment. everytime i find a good transmigration plot they always ruin it with people finding out mc is not from their world, i hate that trope sm. ppl irl have personal shifts all the time trauma, amnesia etc. idc how good the plot is i can't stand it sorry not sorry.
