I preferred the taiwanese version, He Zhi Shu shows so much affection towards her and has a character development, he's not as cold and cares for her and verbally tells her how much he cares.
What is the Taiwanese version? Do you remember what's it called?
The first season is called "It started with a kiss" and the second is "they kiss again" they're both on YouTube with english subs. Personally I prefer the second season much better as it is after their marriage. Their acting is so natural and wonderful and chemi and kissing scenes are top notch!! It's also really hilarious

I watched the anime and some of the adaptations when I was like 13 years. And I hate Irie everytime. I didn't like how they made Kotoko so blinded by love that she didn't even notice how badly she was treated by Irie. There were so many redflags tbh. I can still remember how I used to curse Irie everytime he pops up on the screen. Kotoko should've ended up with the other guy. He may be a bit dumb but at least he's more loveable than Irie.
PLEASE STOP ROMANTICIZING THIS KIND OF PLOT! STOP TEACHING PEOPLE THAT NEGLECT/EMOTIONAL ABUSE EQUATES TO LOVE.
