What are ML and MC?
ML = Male Lead (the male romantic interest)
MC = main character (the protagonist)

In Shoujo (straight) mangas it's called the ML and FL (Female Lead). Since there's no FL in BL mangas, the bottom is called MC to keep a clear distinction. I personally prefer calling them "Seme" and "Uke"
You’re right, I read both types and sometimes I use MC and ML, while others uke and seme Hehehe

I've noticed the usage of the terms "ML" and "MC" to refer to couples in BL Mangas has increased since last one or two years. I've been reading BL Manga for quite a few years but never noticed these before Covid-19 pandemic. I wonder why.

I actually really don’t like the ML, but I adore the MC. Usually it’s my problem in a lot of stories, to dislike the MLs but to cheer and love the MCs, it’s frustrating but, well, here I am.
