I haven't thought about it, but you are right. Thinks must have been scared and hurtful for the ex as well. He had to live with a violent, bigoted woman who wasn't afraid to hurt a child. Living with her was way worst - she could have kicked him out or hurt him frequently.
He was in high school. I do understand cowering in front of your strict parents and lying to them. I did that myself. Never in my life did I throw someone under the bus to save myself. The mum is responsible for this situation but the dude is responsible for his own actions too. Like I said, there’s many ways he could have twisted it rather than accuse garam of sexual assault because that’s what he did. Garam even said he felt uncomfortable because he didn’t want the dudes mum to come back and the dude kinda pushed garam into it by saying there’s absolutely no way that she will come home and guilt tripped him by asking if he doesn’t want to come home with him. He was at fault even before the mother was involved and he was at fault after the mother too. He also had at least 5 years to apologise (idk how old they are now but they must have been between 15-17 back then). The dude is an asshole. The mum is a horrible homophobic child abuser and should be in jail for hitting garam but so should garams parents for seeing him beaten up and not taking him to the police. You can’t always blame it all on the parents when the kids are old enough to know right from wrong. At any point while garam was being beaten up by his mum, he could have changed his story. He didn’t. That’s on him.
Hmmm, i mean, yeah it's wrong, obviously, and shameless to try and come back now, but the real problem is the mom, children are always pushed in diverse directions, she's the evil of the story
