like the gossip guy said, ash is very considerate towards his lovers and knowing how they both even got estranged at one point in the main story, ash is pretty quick to shut everything down to assure karlyle that everything is fine. also i do agree with you, why are you gossiping in places where people that can be affected hear you? rookie mistake tsktsk.
