The kings one and only child is the blonde Kid. The black haired kid is a royal/Noble of another kingdom and his dad is like a noble there and his uncle (queen's) older brother is the king and the queen got married to the blonde king while knowing this.
If I Remember correctly it was all a ploy by the queen and the uncle to take over this Kingdom. The king knows this and I think they threatened to kill the blonde kids mom and that's what stops him from doing shit ( he is the the king so I don't get it but whatever)
The mom does die though (not sure if it's a natural death or she was killed) and the king ends up killing the queen and plans to kill the prince too.
But he is sent away to his actual kingdom while the blonde kid becomes king and starts to court him.

i mean yh but if ur married n sneaking another woman in , that counts as cheating . i ain’t even like the king or the queen both of them messed up
The ploy happened after the king married the queen(MTL fried my brain)
The queen was also forced in this marriage but she's ready to be a queen it's just that if the king didn't want to marry the queen he should have married the blonde mom but since he also wanted the money by the queen's kingdom he shouldn't have been greedy.
And the queen is already inlove too in Joffrey's father so for the queen it's unfair that the king could take his mistress while she had to leave her lover behind and face this marriage with dignity but the king didn't reciprocate the same so that's how Joffrey was born.
TBH the queen is a very complex character because she was also forced as the well the king. But the king have right to refuse the marriage if he wanted just so he won't disrespect the queen. But I also won't forgive the queen for taking her anger out on a literal child. The same can be said with the emperor.
